Show Working

Terms of useLast updated 22 October 2026

Terms of use, in plain words

The short version. The app is free to download and the first topic of each subject is free. Anything more is a one-off payment through Apple, never a subscription. Use the app for your own revision, tell us if anything looks wrong, and your legal rights as a consumer always apply.

1. Who we are

Show Working is made by Boroto Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15171190. Our registered office is 10 Church Square, Leighton Buzzard, England, LU7 1AE. You can contact us at support@showworking.co.uk.

2. These terms

These terms cover the Show Working app for iPhone and iPad and this website. By using either, you agree to them. If you are under 18, please read them with a parent or carer.

You get the app from Apple's App Store, so Apple's standard licence for apps, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement, also applies to the app. If that licence and these terms disagree about the app, Apple's licence applies.

3. Paying

  • The app is free to download, and the first topic of each subject is free.
  • Other topics are unlocked one subject at a time, with a single in-app purchase. Maths costs £9.99. Prices are in pounds and include VAT.
  • You pay Apple through your Apple Account. Apple takes the payment and sends the receipt, and we never see your payment details.
  • There is no subscription. A purchase is a one-off payment and nothing renews.
  • A purchase covers new topics we add to that subject later, at no extra cost.
  • Family Sharing is on, so your family can use your purchase on their own devices. You can restore a purchase at any time from Settings in the app.
  • If our price changes later, it never changes what you have already bought.

4. Refunds and your rights

Because Apple takes the payment, refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides on them.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If something you paid for is faulty, email us and we will put it right, or you can ask Apple for a refund. Citizens Advice can explain your rights.

5. Using the app

Show Working is for your own revision and study. Please do not copy, sell or republish the app or its questions, or try to take the app apart or get around the purchases. You can print a topic page from this website for your own study or share a link to it.

The questions, worked answers, words, pictures and design of the app and this website belong to Boroto Ltd. Exam board names are used only to say which courses the app suits. Show Working is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by any exam board.

6. What the app is, and isn't

Show Working is a practice tool. Its topics follow the Department for Education's GCSE maths subject content, and every answer is worked out by exact maths and checked before release. Even so, mistakes can happen. If a question looks wrong, use Report a wrong question in the app and we will check it.

The app can help you practise, but it cannot promise a grade. Always follow your school's advice about your course and your exam board.

7. Changes to the app

We update Show Working from time to time, for example to add topics or fix problems. We will not take away a subject you have paid for. If we ever have to stop offering Show Working, we will say so in the app and on this website at least 30 days before.

8. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for exam results, or for problems caused by your device, its software or your internet connection.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

9. This website

We try to keep this website accurate and available, but it is provided as it is, and we may change it at any time. Links to other websites, such as the App Store, are for your convenience, and we are not responsible for their content. How we use cookies is explained on the cookies page, and how we handle information in the privacy policy.

10. The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is important, we will also say so in the app.
